Good and evil

Reading the stories of stupid stuff we all did as kids has me thinking about the fine line we all walk in life. A stupid move in traffic can be chocked up to youthful abandon, but if we had kit a kid, we would've gone to jail and maybe never forgiven ourselves.

Most of us have driven drunk...admit it...you have. There has been a time in your life where you were legally drunk, and yet you drove a car anyway. Hopefully none of you are doing it nowadays. A man I work with just lost his mother and his grandmother in a crash caused by a drunk driver.

So we make some dick move in traffic or drive home after a few pints? What separates the tragic events from the non-descript? Chance? Luck? Divine intervention? What kept us from being a headline, or on the police blotter, or in the obituary column? Certainly it wasn't our good judgment, and careful behavior.

I was a pretty wreckless youngster. I have to admit that. But as an adult, I'm not too far from where I used to be...
